for when you have no internet…

For those of you that don’t know, I will be buying a very awesome Sony Ericsson Aino next weekend. The only problem with that is, right now I have a Sony Ercisson W980 in ‘Piano Black’, which is a VERY GOOD PHONE – it would be a waste to give it away or sell it for close to nothing, and due to the Asian-ness of Ruse I don’t think I’ll be able to sell it off… So I will advertise for the phone here. Here’s the deal: I bought the phone from Telechoice in February this year, for $560 upfront. I am willing to sell it (upfront) for $250 (NEGOTIABLE), completely commitment-free and unlocked. It still comes with the original warranty until February 2010. I am also willing to include 200 Java games with the sale, as a bonus (total value is probably more expensive than the phone itself…). The phone and the accessories are all in good condition.

Here are some of the more important features of the phone I’d like to highlight – a full list of the phone’s features and specifications can be found on the official Sony Ericsson phone page HERE:

• Great sound quality: The Sony Ericsson W980 won several awards in Europe for its excellent music quality. It is the first Sony Ericsson to combine two Sony audio technologies, Clear Stereo and Clear Bass. The Sony Ericsson earphones it is bundled with are quite seriously the best earphones I have ever used, and these two together will give you an amazing audio experience. I actually use my phone for music and my iPod Touch for gaming… And, of course, being a Walkman phone, it comes with a premium music player application. Playing music on-the-go? The W980 has stereo speakers.
• 8GB internal memory: This should be more than enough to store all your favourite songs, one or two movies, and all your photos. Because this is internal memory, file transfers via the included USB cable are very fast.
• FM transmitter: Undoubtedly, this is the highlight feature of the W980. It is the only phone I know to have an inbuilt FM transmitter (not to be confused with an FM receiver, which it also has). What does this mean? When you play music in the Walkman and turn the FM transmitter on, you broadcast your music over a chosen FM frequency, so other FM receivers can tune in. This works up to around 15m, and is perfect for in-car music.
• External touch screen: Another stunning part of this phone is its external touchscreen controls. Although they appear to stick out from the frame of the phone, I was pleasantly surprised to find out one day that they are actually level. You can control the music player or radio from here, and you can also choose what to display on your external screen from the music player, standby screen and FM radio.
• 3.2 megapixel camera with photo-fix, video recording and an inbuilt image-editing application in the phone (PhotoDJ). The W980 also has a 1.3mpx video call camera.
• Web browsing is a pleasure with the advanced NetFront browser. Enjoy the mobile Internet at broadband-like speed with HSDPA and HSUPA. Use the photos on your phone and upload them to your blog in a few clicks.
• Shake control and music recognition: With shake control, flick your wrist in different directions and speeds to go to the next track, previous track, shuffle or change the volume. The W980 also comes with the patented TrackID music recognition software. Record a few seconds of music from anywhere (even the radio), and TrackID returns the song name, artist and album in seconds. It also picks up your mobile network provider and automatically provides links to buy the song in the corresponding music store.
• Accelerometer: Just like the iPhone, the W980 has an inbuilt-accelerometer. It features an auto-rotate interface, and supports motion-sensor gaming and Flash applications.
• Light effects: The bottom clear part of the phone lights up white whenever you wake the phone from screensaver, and if you’re in the Walkman and have the feature enabled, it flashes orange to the beat of the song. A really cool feature to show off to your friends!
• Other notable features: Excellent T9 predictive text input, latest generation Bluetooth technology, quad-band phone, RSS feed reader, pedometer application, music creation application, sexy gloss design.

And above all that, it’s UNLOCKED – so just put in any SIM and enjoy!
